On the night of August 15/16, the earth experienced a minor geomagnetic storm (G1 on the NOAA SWPC scale) for 9 hours. The next three hours (06-09 UTC), it was elevated to G2 or moderate. Looking east where Rural Highway 654 crosses the Pembina River, the aurora were pulsing. Waves of light flashed quickly from east to west. It was extraordinary.
