The location is probably what makes this lodge so special and unique, as it is situated in Field, BC in Yoho National park at the center of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The main lodge is located beside the Kicking Horse River and faces the picturesque view of both Mount Field and Mount Stephens.
Many travellers use the lodge as a home base to explore the many surrounding parks that are just a short drive away, such as the Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise and Kooteney National Park. It is also located minutes away from Emerald Lake, Moraine Lake, Plain of Six Glaciers, Larch Valley, Bow Falls, Takakkaw Falls and Vermillion Lakes, all boasting in unreal scenery and mountain adventures.
The abundance of wildlife within Yoho National Park is also something worth noting, as there are opportunities to observe elk, moose, deer, bears, wolf, the Canadian Lynx and many other wild creatures that call this place their home.

This can range from a guided hike that departs from Moraine Lake Lodge that is of moderate difficulty to exploring the trails in and around the lodge – the choice is yours!
Other mountain activities that you have to choose from are Canoeing on Moraine Lake, Ice Field Helicopter Tours, River Rafting, Horseback Riding, Snow Coach Tours, Guided Fishing, Hot Springs and Mountain Bike Rentals. There is something for everyone!
There are 31 handcrafted, luxury cabins on the property for you to choose from that are cozy and private from the rest of the resort.
The 3 story cabins offer rooms, such as Premiere Cabins, Premiere Cabins with a Loft, Deluxe King and Deluxe Twin. Prices range from $200-$550 per night depending on the cabin and time of year.
No matter which one you choose you are in for a spectacular view from your room, tall vaulted wooden ceilings, large windows and a spacious cabin with rustic style décor and Canadian antiques.
Each cabin also includes a fireplace, a cozy down duvet on an authentic log bed, and a nice added touch - a picnic basket!
A private walkout porch with comfy deck chairs accompanies this setting, perfect for enjoying a hot morning tea and the tranquility of the majestic mountain view.
The lodge is a common welcoming gathering space for all guests, built with tall open beams and sports beautiful views of the river and soaring heights of the mountains by way of gargantuan floor-to-ceiling windows. Adding rustic character and charm are wooden plank floors, a large stone wood burning fireplace and a large deck that overlooks the Kicking Horse River.
Inside the lodge you will find Cathedral’s signature Great Room and Riverside Dining Room which boasts a multi-award winning kitchen and celebrated chefs. The menu offers fresh, local and certified organic food obtained from local farms and suppliers, along with a wide selection of regional and international wines.
All guests receive a complementary market-fresh buffet breakfast, along with afternoon tea and cookies, served in the Great Room daily. A handy convenience when heading out on a hike is the option of pre-ordering a packed hikers lunch to take with you on your adventure.
